The Senior EHS Specialist position is responsible for working collaboratively with various stakeholders to establish, implement, and assess EHS strategies for assigned operational facilities. In this position, it is essential to adapt to various environments while consistently driving our culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 5-10 years’ relevant experience required
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and/or Risk Management Plan (RMP) required for specific locations
  • Must be able to maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record to drive for the company according to the Company’s Vehicle Safety and Driver Qualification Policy

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Federal, State, and Local EHS regulations, including tracking, interpreting, and communicating changes and updates to EHS regulations
  • Support assigned facility(s) with regulatory inspections and completion of follow-up action items
  • Measure facility(s) against agency regulations and company programs, including Life Critical Policies (LCP), OSHA, EPA, and other defined EHS and regulatory programs
  • Schedule and attend required inspections and employee testing. Review resulting documentation to ensure identified issues are clear and tracked to completion
  • Mentor supervisors and employees on EHS requirements and tools, including LCPs, hazard identification, inspections of facility, and EHS management systems
  • Lead groups, including peers, utilizing expertise to drive improvements that benefit EHS strategy
  • Assimilate into the assigned facility(s) culture to understand the operation to positively establish safety as a core value.
  • Understand dust hazard assessments (DHA), permitting, reporting, and other EHS requirements specific to assigned facility(s)
  • Educate and train supervisors and employees on EHS programs and practices and support the onboarding of new employees and contractors at assigned facility(s)
  • Lead incident investigations and support immediate incident management for assigned facilities and oversee incident investigations alongside colleagues with less experience
  • Lead root cause analysis or Learning from Incident (LFI) to determine appropriate corrective actions to incidents and track the actions to completion
  • Ensure databases are maintained with accurate and up-to-date information by working with facility personnel to remain compliant with the Company’s EHS programs
  • Assist with contractor management, including vendor qualification and auditing
