About The Position

The University of Southern Maine’s Occupational Therapy Department invites applications for a Renewable Lecturer position, beginning August 31, 2026. This position is a 9-month appointment. Courses taught may be at the bachelor, master, and doctoral degree levels. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence in their discipline to join a team of faculty in a department with a vibrant student body. The successful applicant may also be considered for appointment in a program director role. Students can pursue a Bachelor of Science Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA-B) degree, a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree, an Entry-Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD), or a Post-Professional OTD for those already in the field. Faculty members are committed to providing accessible and relationship-based occupational therapy education that is hands-on, community-engaged, and focused on the future of occupational therapy practice. When hired, candidates must reside within a 90-minute commutable distance from the USM campuses. This requirement is essential for the ability to participate in supporting and building upon our university culture of "student focused every day" and allows for regular participation in on-campus activities, meetings, and fulfills the responsibilities of the role effectively.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree required.
  • Licensed occupational therapist in Maine or eligible for licensure to practice OT in the state of Maine.
  • Teaching experience is required.
