Remote Unix/Linux Systems Engineer
About The Position
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Unix System Engineer - REMOTE. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to the support and enhancement of Unix, Windows, and VMware systems that serve various virtual and physical infrastructures. Your expertise will ensure high availability and performance of over 600 servers, contributing directly to the successful operations of our partner. The role is essential in maintaining system security, optimizing processes, and providing technical support. You will have the opportunity to leverage your skills in a dynamic environment while working remotely.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience supporting RHEL/CentOS systems
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA6/7/8)
- Intermediate skills with Satellite Server and Ansible Tower
- Experience with Linux hosting in AWS
- Knowledge in vulnerability mitigation and OS hardening
- Ability to create and configure file systems (NFS/CIFS)
- Expertise in logical volume management
- Experience with an enterprise monitoring/ticketing system
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
Responsibilities
- Support a team managing 600+ Unix/Linux servers
- Assist in expanding the Linux presence within AWS
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and after-hours support
- Develop and debug scripts (shell, perl, python, etc.)
- Install, configure, and patch RHEL on various platforms
- Utilize Splunk for log analysis and review
- Perform daily monitoring and maintenance of servers
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Directly support customers and manage support requests
- Carry out other related duties as assigned
