The Remote Process Diagnostics Engineer (RPDE) at Owens Corning is responsible for enhancing manufacturing safety, quality, cost efficiency, and environmental impact by utilizing remote data to identify and troubleshoot process issues. This role involves creating analytical models of manufacturing processes in collaboration with technical teams and ensuring effective communication and problem-solving across operations and engineering teams.

  • Engage in safety activities including training, safety observations, and safe behaviors while traveling
  • Use early warning diagnostic technology to eliminate production and process losses
  • Develop adequate process monitoring capability and warning systems to eliminate losses due to upset conditions or process deviations
  • Provide daily ongoing monitoring of Early Warning Diagnostics tools and systems
  • Identify deviations from expected outputs and share findings with the established escalation workflow
  • Confer with Subject Matter Experts (SME), Technical Leaders, Reliability Engineers, and RMDC Leaders to develop improvement plans
  • Grow remote monitoring and diagnostics capacity by developing new tools and automating workflows
  • Perform data analyses as requested by plant partners and present conclusions clearly
  • Coach and train other technical persons in the effective use of manufacturing analytic systems
  • Build effective work relationships with Plant Operations Teams, Process Support Specialists, and Process Control Engineers
  • Provide guidance for process monitoring specifications for new equipment installations or process rollouts
  • Consult with and leverage external resources on projects related to manufacturing analytics
  • Experience in manufacturing process diagnostics and analytics
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data modeling
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience in coaching and training technical personnel
  • Familiarity with digital tools and data insights for manufacturing
  • Experience with early warning diagnostic technology
  • Knowledge of safety culture in manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with process monitoring specifications
