About The Position

Join Actalent as a fully remote Plumbing Design Engineer, responsible for reviewing fire protection, fire alarm, and plumbing design documents for tenant projects. This role involves conducting design audits, ensuring compliance with building codes, and coordinating with technical disciplines to resolve issues. The engineer will also be involved in the layout of plumbing and fire protection systems, as well as equipment sizing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of diverse experience in fire protection and plumbing systems design.
• Experience designing Plumbing & Fire Protection systems on various project types.
• Knowledge of applicable construction codes and reference standards in New York City, New York State, and State of New Jersey.
• Proper understanding of engineering disciplines related to building design and construction of transportation and related facilities.
• E.I.T or P.E certification.
• Knowledge of International Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code, and Fire Code.
• Experience in ASME B31.1 Power Piping/ ASME B3.9 Building Services Piping Designs.
• Experience in NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems.

Responsibilities

• Review fire protection, fire alarm, and plumbing design documents for tenant projects.
• Conduct design audits and process projects to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and technical standards.
• Download and preview construction documents, hydraulic calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Coordinate review comments from technical disciplines and prepare memoranda for transmitting comments to line departments.
• Attend meetings with tenant Architect/Engineers to discuss review comments and resolve issues.
• Layout plumbing and fire protection systems, as well as equipment layout and sizing.
