MassAutonomy is seeking UAS Specialists to operate unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for various missions across government, industry, and academic sectors. The role involves planning and executing UAS missions, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, and managing flight operations while providing excellent customer service.

  • Plan and execute UAS missions for government, industry, and academic organizations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with FAA Part 107 sUAS rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage the flight crew when acting as Remote Pilot-in-Command (RPIC).
  • Support the RPIC as a Visual Observer (VO) during flights.
  • Conduct pre-mission briefs and complete safety risk assessments prior to flights.
  • Document flight planning in flight readiness reports and present at flight readiness reviews.
  • Organize and deliver acquired data to the data team for processing.
  • Manage drone hardware, software, and overall mission readiness.
  • Travel extensively throughout Massachusetts to support flight operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • FAA Commercial UAS Certification Part 107.
  • Minimum of 100 hours experience flying multicopters and/or fixed-wing UAS aircraft.
  • Experience in UAS mission planning software.
  • Knowledge of UAS hardware and sensors, including visible and thermal cameras.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in UAS/photogrammetry data analysis software.
  • Familiarity with imagery analysis and GIS tools.
  • Manned aircraft experience.
  • Competitive hourly pay ranging from $30 to $50 per hour.
  • Flexible work schedule with expected hours not exceeding 40 per week.
