About The Position

The Part-time Faculty member is a faculty position with non-exempt status in the School of Business. School of Business faculty teach business courses (accounting, finance, data analytics, entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, human resources, marketing, operations, information technology, project management, etc.) and public service courses (national security, criminal justice, public administration, etc.) Reporting to the respective Department Chair, this non-tenure track part-time faculty position is expected to provide academic instruction to degree, certificate, and non-degree learners. The primary responsibility of this role is teaching, with a focus on delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences within the faculty member's area of expertise and specialization.  This position may be performed remotely. Remote employees are expected to be available during scheduled course hours and to maintain reasonable availability for student communication. The University will not supply equipment for part-time faculty; employees are responsible for having the necessary technology and a workspace suitable for participating in virtual meetings and facilitating online instruction without significant interruption.  To teach at Excelsior is to embrace teaching excellence and deliver outstanding instruction to our non-traditional students. Requirements

  • Graduate degree in the relevant discipline or a closely related field required; doctoral degree preferred.  Candidates with a master's degree and significant, documented industry experience and/or relevant professional certifications will be considered. 
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise through professional experience, scholarship, or practice within the relevant field. 
  • Commitment to student success and academic excellence. 
  • Willingness and ability to be on camera through recordings and live interactions with students.  
  • Willingness and ability to contribute some nights as required for synchronous components in some courses.  

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level preferred, with comfort across multiple instructional modalities (online, hybrid, in-person). 

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses as assigned and advance student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines, University standards, and external benchmarks of quality. 
  • Deliver instruction consistent with the approved course design, syllabus, and learning outcomes established for each course. 
  • Maintain consistent, timely, and professional communication with students throughout the term, including feedback on assessments and responsiveness to student inquiries. 
  • Participate in course-level data collection and reporting as required, including the assessment of student learning outcomes. 
  • Adhere to all policies specified in the Faculty Handbook, Faculty Playbook, and Teaching Checklist. 
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair and instructional support staff as needed to ensure course quality and student success. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.
