The Remote Outpatient Coder (OBS/SDS) position involves reviewing patient medical records from ambulatory surgery centers or similar facilities to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for billing purposes. The role requires adherence to outpatient coding standards and collaboration with various departments to resolve coding-related issues, ensuring a high level of coding accuracy.

Accurately assign codes for outpatient diagnoses, treatments, and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT guidelines for hospital stays treated during observation (OBS) or Same Day Surgery (SDS).
Abstract and enter necessary information into Client's Health's electronic medical record systems.
Collaborate with internal departments (Admitting, Charging, Patient Financial Services, HIM, etc.) to address documentation and coding-related discrepancies.
Resolve charging issues, denials, and coding-related queries in a timely manner to ensure accurate billing and claims submission.
Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher by consistently following Official Coding Guidelines and Client Health standards.

3+ years' experience in outpatient coding
Experience in same-day surgery (SDS) or observation (OBS) is required
Experience working with ambulatory surgery centers or similar is highly preferred
In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems, with specific experience in outpatient coding
Familiarity with coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
Active CPC from AAPC or CCS from AHIMA is required
Verifiable High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clinical teams and other departments
Ability to manage deadlines and quickly adapt and re-prioritize to deliver results
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
High attention to detail and the highest level of confidentiality.
