This role plays a critical part in integrating nursing science, computer science, and information science to improve the healthcare landscape. By leveraging digital tools, the Nurse Informatician enhances decision-making for patients, nurses, and healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will facilitate the flow of information to ensure optimal patient care and support, thereby transforming healthcare delivery through technology. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the digital needs of the clinical staff are met effectively.

Requirements

  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required)
  • Minimum of 5 years in Nursing (Required)
  • Minimum of 5 years in Information Technology (Required)
  • Basic Life Support Certification (Required)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania (RN-State of Pennsylvania)
  • Strong computer literacy skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work well in teams and independently.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison between health services and information technology staff.
  • Participate as a content expert for nursing processes including assessment and implementation.
  • Communicate informatics needs to IT staff and system limitations to nursing staff.
  • Collect and process information requests to produce accurate reports.
  • Document coding and processes according to standards.
  • Provide feedback for report development and enhancements.
  • Coordinate the development of business requirements documentation.
  • Apply business rules and workflows to new or redesigned IT systems.
  • Report initiative progress and issues to stakeholders.
  • Analyze documents and workflows related to nursing or case management.
  • Ensure documentation meets regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate information and assist in developing charting tools.
  • Recommend system enhancements for clinical department users.
  • Support testing of application upgrades.
  • Prepare training materials and assist in user training.
  • Mentor nursing staff on electronic medical record implementations.
