About The Position

This position is responsible for daily cardiac rhythm monitoring and actively participating in downloading and maintaining remote monitoring websites, reporting any alert status directly to the Device Clinic Registered Nurse (RN). This position is eligible for remote/hybrid work after successful completion of all training and demonstrated competency.

Requirements

  • BLS - Basic Life Support Required Within 3 months of hire or transfer
  • MA CERT - Medical Assistant Required
  • As required by Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to be employed through MyMichigan Health all Medical Assistants must possess one of the following active certification/licensure:
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologist (AMT)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • OR equivalent Medical Assistant Credential such as (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CCMA, etc.). Prefer completion of a Medical Assistant program through an accredited organization.
  • Medical First Responder, Emergency Medical Tech Basic/Specialist, or Paramedic though the State of Michigan. Registered Radiologic Technologist through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of reading, writing, mathematical, and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Successful completion of annual competency requirement(s), including mandatory net-learning modules.
  • Must follow MidMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

  • Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.
  • May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
  • Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.
  • Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.
  • May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
  • Physical Demand Level: Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented successful completion of dysrhythmia course or equivalent (such as a bachelor’s degree in cardiac rehab) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • (80%)Assumes daily task of logging on to remote monitoring websites and actively monitoring remote tracings. Completing reports and documenting in Device Clinic database. Report any abnormal findings or any alert status directly to the Device Clinic RN staff.
  • (15%) Provides appropriate education regarding home care, routine precautions and follow up of patient's individual device. Able to educate and instruct patients on use of home monitoring devices.
  • (5%) Able to log on to and order equipment through websites and call device manufacturers/representatives for information when required. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assisting in maintaining any statistics needed for the department under the supervision of the Device Clinic RNs.
  • Training on registering patients in Device Clinic database and maintaining/updating the patient database as needed.
  • Answering patient phone calls, trouble-shooting home monitoring system questions and scheduling patients for clinic appointments as needed.
