The remote Inpatient Coder is responsible for assigning diagnosis and procedural code using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems and monitors bill hold reports. Serves as a liaison to Clinical documentation Specialists for ICD-10 inpatient encounters for accurate code and MSDRG assignments. Communicate with the Workforce Manager when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Extensive knowledge of 3M encoder, EPIC electronic health record is required. Must have a minimum 4yrs recent acute care inpatient coding experience. Comfortable with hitting a 95% accuracy or better and hitting productivity standards. Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.

  • Assign diagnosis and procedural code using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems.
  • Monitor bill hold reports.
  • Serve as a liaison to Clinical documentation Specialists for ICD-10 inpatient encounters.
  • Communicate with the Workforce Manager when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four (4) years recent acute care hospital Inpatient Coding and abstracting experience.
  • Recent Level I OR II Trauma experience.
  • Extensive knowledge with recent 3M 360 and EPIC software.
  • CCS Credential required.
  • Strong communication (written/verbal).
  • Experience in writing queries.
  • Must be technically savvy.
  • 5 years Academic Acute Care Inpatient Coding experience.
