Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in geosteering or operations geology.
  • Strong understanding of drilling operations and how geological interpretations influence drilling dynamics.
  • Experience working in collaborative, high-performance team environments.
  • Proficiency with geosteering software (e.g., StarSteer, ZoneVu) and geological databases; ability to quickly learn new tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time geosteering guidance to optimize wellbore placement, working closely with drilling and directional teams.
  • Master and follow each operator’s established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Thrive in collaborative team structures, ensuring seamless coordination between geology and drilling functions.
  • Complete geological side projects, special studies, and operational initiatives during non-drilling intervals.
  • Integrate geological interpretations into drilling decisions and proactively recommend adjustments to improve performance.
  • Uphold rigorous QA/QC standards for all geosteering and geological analyses.
  • Use cross sections to anticipate casing points, coring intervals, and adjustments to landing targets.
  • Remain agile in responding to shifting priorities and operational demands.
