About The Position

The Financial Reporting Accountant Sr. is responsible for the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and reports for various AEP legal entities, including SEC registrants. This role involves creating journal entries, participating in the monthly closing and consolidation processes, and providing leadership on accounting and reporting projects. The position is remote and requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, or business with a concentration in accounting.
• Three to five years of experience in accounting or financial reporting.
• Prefer CPA or CFA or working towards such certification.

Nice To Haves

• MBA preferred.
• Experience with business reporting tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of SEC and other financial reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, Form 1, and 3Q.
• Prepare journal entries to support consolidation process and financial statement preparation process.
• Assist in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data for internal and external customers.
• Perform analytical review of financial data.
• Interpret complex accounting theory and apply accounting regulations and pronouncements.
• Stay informed of the latest rules, regulations, and reporting requirements of the SEC, FASB, and FERC.
• Assist in the Edgar and XBRL processes required for SEC filings.
• Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control processes.
• Perform project management activities.
• Cultivate positive business relationships between financial reporting and AEP business partners.
