About The Position

The Remote Customer Service Representative for Group Benefits at The Hartford is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support for various insurance products, including Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance. This role involves assisting customers with technical issues, responding to inquiries, and ensuring a positive customer experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide clear resolutions to customers.
  • Ability to empathize with customers.
  • Demonstrated background in customer service, insurance, retail, sales, or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and navigate multiple programs effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to develop strong customer relationships.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on delivering high customer value.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to be tech savvy to assist customers with website and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Build rapport and maintain positive relationships with our internal customers.
  • Take inbound customer calls using active listening skills, understanding individual needs, personalizing solutions, and creating memorable customer experiences.
  • Work on customer emails in between inbound calls utilizing critical thinking skills and high attention to detail.
  • Respond to benefit questions regarding Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Life, and Supplemental Life products, as well as billing and administrative inquiries.
  • Adhere to established compliance and performance processes, both verbally and in writing.
  • Utilize active listening and critical thinking skills to analyze and understand customer requests, providing appropriate solutions.
  • Take ownership to ensure exceptional service, utilizing every touchpoint to build value and enhance The Hartford brand.
