About The Position

The Business Analyst position at West Virginia University serves as a crucial link between the WVU Research Office and the ITS Research Administration Applications team. This role focuses on providing business process solutions and technical support to meet the research needs of the department and institution. The Business Analyst will work closely with domain experts to gather and document business requirements, address usability concerns, and support team members throughout the project and software development lifecycles.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of combined experience involving implementing business practices and strategies and collaborating with business units to gather requirements.
  • Experience in an IT field.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide documentation support for requirements gathering, process analysis, gap analysis, design of new functionality, and product testing.
  • Participate in project walkthroughs including business requirements gathering, process flows, design walkthroughs, functional test plans, and implementation sessions.
  • Manage written communications between stakeholders and internal business units.
  • Create and manage functional requirement documents for in-house development of software applications to support research administration and compliance.
  • Manage product bugs and feature enhancement requests using the Research IT team's standard issue tracking software (Jira).
  • Coordinate and assist with system testing and production validation.
  • Assist with the Research Office research administration lifecycle process.
  • Work with business users, subject matter experts, and technical staff in resolving system-related issues.
  • Manage Research IT team knowledge base articles.
  • Provide quality assurance testing to facilitate system enhancements and bug fixes.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues including business analysts, software developers, application administrators, and business partners.
