About The Position

We are seeking a Religious Education Program Manager to support the 509th Bomb Wing Chapel (509 BW/HC) at Whiteman Air Force Base (AFB), Missouri (MO). In this role, you will lead the planning and day-to-day delivery of the installation’s Catholic religious education program, coordinating with chapel leadership and volunteers to provide engaging, well-organized formation activities for children, youth, and adults. Requirements

  • Must be an active, practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church
  • Must be committed to the Catholic faith
  • Cannot have a history of domestic violence, assault, or crimes against children
  • Must be able to oversee a comprehensive Catholic RE and Formation program for the installation
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • U.S. citizenship is required as it supports the U.S. federal government

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Advanced certificate in Catechesis or Religious Studies preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire Catholic chapel religious education (RE) ministry
  • Coordinate all religious education programs and monitor sanctioned Bible studies
  • Collaborate with installation personnel and other faith groups in an ecumenical setting
  • Recruit volunteer RE teachers and encourage Sunday school and Christian education attendance
  • Develop an annual Catholic RE curriculum and schedule in coordination with the Catholic priest
  • Implement programs, goals, policies, and procedures for RE programs for children and adults
  • Plan RE registration activities and volunteer teacher training
  • Attend monthly Catholic Pastoral Advisory Council meetings and provide RE reports as directed
  • Administer the Faith Family Assessment program for all RE students
  • Verify faith community members meet prerequisites prior to receiving the Sacraments
  • Prepare RE publicity for installation newspapers, the official Base bulletin, and Chapel bulletins in advance
  • Coordinate facilities to be open and ready for use 30 minutes prior to program start
  • Provide oversight for weekday and Sunday classes
  • Train teachers and volunteers to implement Vacation Bible School (VBS)
  • Partner with the Protestant RE Coordinator for an ecumenical VBS where applicable
  • Submit written goals and objectives for a year-round RE program starting in September
  • Establish a process for volunteer teachers to monitor student absenteeism
  • Notify the Catholic priest regarding students with special needs requiring personal contact or visit
  • Maintain student registration and contact records in accordance with privacy requirements
  • Contact and welcome new students to the RE program
  • Brief RE teachers and workers on local safety requirements and procedures
  • Maintain security and cleanliness of facilities and secure spaces upon departure after each program or event
