About The Position

To provide the best possible Veterinary care to patients of Texas Litter Control. Vets must arrive 15 minutes prior to start of wellness shift. Communicate with the Site Supervisor and/or Executive Director about any concerns with staff, clinic practices, and client issues. Direct Vet Technicians as needed. Coordinate with the Chief Veterinarian about any changes in anesthesia protocols or other surgical related drugs. Perform basic wellness services on pets. Perform basic health check exams on patients prior to spay/neuter surgery. Examine and treat animals in the adoption and sanctuary TLC programs. Some of these animals will be sick and require diagnostic work. Examine and treat any rechecks from surgeries performed at the TLC clinic. Euthanize TLC program animals if necessary. Stay within compliance of all state and federal laws. Surgery Shifts - Your role will consist of performing high quality surgeries on a number of patients per shift. The practice has spacious surgical suites and a dedicated recovery area, and you will be supported by highly trained and dedicated support staff. TLC partners with a local shelter to provide training in HQHVSN. You will have access to a surgeon training program which will fully equip you to deal with the numbers. Associate Veterinary Shifts - Your role will consist of providing wellness and preventative care services including vaccinations, treatment of minor injuries, and examinations using digital x-rays. Requirements

Active Texas Veterinary Medical License REQUIRED.
DVM/VMD/NAVLE degree or equivalent from an accredited university
State and DEA License
Advanced medical skills
A compassionate, empathetic, and energetic veterinarian
A person who possesses strong emotional intelligence and is a team player

Owned pet minimum weight requirement is 3 pounds and rescue minimum weight requirement is 2 pounds for kittens.
TLC does not knowingly perform spay/neuter surgeries on owned pets who are term pregnant. Feral cats are an exception.
TLC does perform term pregnant spay/neuter surgeries on feral cats.

Responsibilities

Full Time Veterinary Care

Triaging patients that need a full-service or emergency clinic
