About The Position
The Relief Supervisor at Arc Thrift Stores plays a crucial role in managing store operations to maximize sales performance during scheduled shifts. This position is responsible for ensuring that the store is adequately staffed, that new employees receive proper training, and that the store is well-merchandised and clean. The Relief Supervisor also oversees cash register operations, ensuring that there are adequate change reserves and assisting cashiers as needed. A key aspect of this role is the implementation of the customer service program, which involves training employees and community service workers by answering questions, providing directions, and offering constructive feedback on task performance. In addition to sales and customer service responsibilities, the Relief Supervisor is tasked with maintaining a safe working environment. This includes providing safety guidelines to employees, coaching them on safety issues, and promptly reporting any safety concerns to the store manager. The Relief Supervisor is also responsible for maintaining daily employee attendance records, reporting on the performance of the assigned crew and furniture department, and suggesting disciplinary actions or terminations when necessary. Following the Operations Manual guidelines for banking and cash handling is essential to ensure accuracy and accountability in financial transactions. At the end of each business day, the Relief Supervisor must ensure that all shopping carts are returned to the store and that closing procedures are followed to secure the store. Preparing the production room for the next shift by ensuring that donations are properly stored is also part of the role. The Relief Supervisor reports directly to the store manager or supervisor and provides direction to store employees during assigned shifts.
