About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Per Diem Orthopedic APP to join our team in the Redwood City area. This individual will primarily be based at our Redwood City location, but may be required to cover other locations as needed. The focus of this role will be on Total joints, sports, and acute injury cases, providing high quality care to our patients. As a Per Diem Orthopedic APP, you will work 3-5 shifts per month, with each shift lasting 8 hours. This schedule allows for flexibility while maintaining a consistent workload. We value work-life balance and do not require weekend shifts, making this an ideal opportunity for those seeking a weekday schedule. There will be no nights or weekends required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments and provide treatment.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with acute, chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns related to specialty.
  • Obtain complete histories and perform pertinent physical exams.
  • Perform or request and evaluate diagnostic studies as indicated.
  • Order or furnish medications under physician supervision.
  • Order and collect specimens for routine laboratory tests.
  • Order physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, and radiology examinations.
  • Perform designated procedures after demonstrated competency.
  • Obtain informed consent as indicated.
  • Initiate arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges.
  • Assist the supervising physician in the operating room.
  • Recognize and consider age-specific needs of patients.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, staff, and community members.
  • Recognize situations requiring immediate attention of a physician.
  • Facilitate coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide and coordinate patient teaching and counseling.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of orthopedic experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited university.
  • Graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.
  • PA - Physician Assistant State Licensure.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certification.
  • DEA - Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
