About The Position

Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Reliability Specialist for a top Manufacturing leader in Morristown, TN. This is a high-impact, hands-on role designed to architect and lead the facility’s reliability program. The Specialist acts as the bridge between Engineering and Maintenance, focusing on failure elimination and the long-term maintainability of production assets. We are seeking a professional who is equally comfortable analyzing data in an office setting and working alongside mechanics on the plant floor to troubleshoot urgent equipment issues. Your mission is to drive operational excellence by reducing operating costs and maximizing production capacity through innovative reliability strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial) is REQUIRED.
  • Minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in a Reliability Engineering or Specialist role.
  • Field Execution: Willingness to work in the field alongside mechanics and operators; must be able to respond to urgent equipment issues as they arise.
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to solve complex engineering challenges and eliminate repetitive mechanical or electrical failures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Deep understanding of Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles as they apply to equipment reliability.
  • Communication: Strong presentation and technical writing skills to report on reliability metrics and justify capital investments.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a direct maintenance leadership or technician role (Manager, Supervisor, or Tech) is strongly preferred .

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership: Lead and develop the site-wide reliability program to support safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant operations.
  • Maintenance Strategy: Define, design, and continuously improve maintenance strategies, focusing on value-added Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) .
  • Failure Elimination: Analyze repetitive equipment failures (Root Cause Analysis) to develop sustainable solutions that improve product quality and plant uptime.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Production and Engineering teams to ensure that new equipment installations are designed for maximum maintainability.
  • Technical Support: Provide high-level technical guidance to maintenance and production personnel during both routine operations and urgent equipment failures.
  • Capability Building: Develop and implement technical training programs to strengthen the troubleshooting and repair capabilities of the internal Maintenance team.
  • Infrastructure Oversight: Guide reliability initiatives across utilities, facilities, and critical safety control systems.
