Purpose and Scope This role is part of Engineering, Manufacturing Excellence, & Reliability and is responsible for improving work force productivity and asset reliability by eliminating potential delays and costs caused by repeat failures and by leading the effort to improve asset reliability. The reliability engineer will lead the effort to standardize, promote, and implement reliability programs focused on the overall life cycle cost of the assets which include material, services, and internal/external labor. All activities and responsibilities are intended to proactively improve asset reliability to increase plant productivity, improve performance, and reduce total cost of operation/ownership. It is recognized that manufacturing steel is an extremely asset intensive business whereas this key position is required to support these endeavors. The reliability engineer works across plant boundaries to harmonize these standard practices dealing with asset reliability and design.
