The Reliability Engineering Team Leader role is largely a strategic position focused on improving the long-term reliability of the site (compliance, asset improvements and programs), improving the multi-disciplinary engineering capability for the site, and ensuring the site complies with mechanical integrity requirements for fixed equipment. The primary focus is on providing leadership, mentorship, and work direction to the site reliability team. This role will support evaluation of the equipment reliability challenges facing the assets and recommend improvements and changes to continually improve the reliability and availability of the equipment within the site assets. This role will work with Process Area Teams (PAT), maintenance department, capital projects team, and site technical team to provide approved specifications, standards, procedures, compliance strategies, and technical skill development to enable the process units and maintenance department to resolve the issues affecting plant reliability and mechanical integrity.

  • Ensure all aspects of the site's Mechanical Integrity Programs and Corporate Standards pertaining to reliability or inspection are implemented throughout the site.
  • Develop, manage, and sustain the capabilities of the reliability engineers and area inspectors to deliver the site reliability and inspection objectives.
  • Optimize the use of resources (manpower and cost) to timely and sustainably deliver site and business objectives.
  • Ensure all inspections, repairs, and equipment installations performed on the site meet applicable industry codes and standards, INEOS Joliet specs and standards, or recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices.
  • Site representative for the Office of State Fire Marshall (OSFM) government interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with all Fixed Equipment with regulatory due dates on the site.
  • Develop the site's reliability engineering capability.
  • Ensure the Reliability and Inspections teams fully support the INEOS Joliet Capital Project Process.
  • Business Value Records and Governed Record Owner/Custodian.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Petro-chemical manufacturing environment, 10+ years preferred.
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience, engineering professional supervisory experience preferred or equivalent leading and/or influencing a team of professionals to deliver critical business objectives.
  • Knowledge of reliability processes (Reliability Analysis, Failure Analysis, etc.) and PSM compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of general engineering Codes, Standards and Recommended Practices.
  • Knowledge of inspection Codes (API, NBIC) and inspection techniques used within the Petro-chemical industry.
  • Demonstrated successful verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with internal stakeholders and vendors.
  • Excellent negotiation and rational persuasion skills.
  • Ability to appropriately deal with and prioritize multiple & changing site priorities based on business needs.
  • Self-control capacity to deal with challenging situations and or individuals.
  • Ability to present complex information to senior management.
  • Must have a strong, demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Self-motivated, and enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced 24/7 environment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal skills and advanced communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets and word processing.
