About The Position

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for developing and leading preventative and predictive reliability programs to ensure safe, efficient operations and consistent production of high-quality products. This role focuses on identifying and resolving production issues, planning engineering responses, and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence. This position plays a critical role in optimizing engineering strategies and sustaining operational excellence across the plant. Assists in development, planning, and execution of all plant-related engineering activities including a wide variety of mechanical, chemical, and electrical components supporting equipment efficiency throughout the site. The Reliability Engineer will develop and gain a deep understanding of complex processing systems and equipment. Incorporates data analysis into decision making and focus areas to effectively make improvements. Analyze system failures to determine source and cause Participate in evaluating system conditions and contributing to the development of long-term obsolescence and sustainability plans. Lead mechanical integrity inspection programs for various equipment/vessels Applies working knowledge of engineering disciplines and independently conceives and develops approaches to problem solving that requires advanced technical knowledge Plans and conducts small to medium-sized projects. Responsibilities include detailed project planning/monitoring, budgeting, project reviews, implementation, validation, and release to production Promote and drive continuous improvement programs utilizing common problem-solving tools and methodologies in processes and procedures within the Ensure delivery of effective performance management while establishing and sustaining a positive work environment. Follows escalation reporting process with inputs from peers/manager for decision making as required. Make and communicate decisions that are appropriate for level of accountability. This position will work to coordinate external contractors to perform work in a cost effective and safe manner. You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, science or closely related discipline, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence, with a desired 2+ years of significant engineering, operational, and/or maintenance experience.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong technical and leadership skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with engineering responsibility in a regulated industry, with preference being for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, etc.
  • Project planning experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in an environment with complex equipment and systems
  • Knowledge of project planning tools and experience using them
  • Experience working with and implementing Continuous Improvement tools & methodologies
  • Experience working with tanks/vessels
  • Familiar with tank/vessel inspection codes
