The Reliability Engineer II at Freeport-McMoRan is responsible for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of engineering projects within the Sierrita operations. This role involves investigating and developing recommendations for reliability engineering projects, collaborating with various departments to improve safety and operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The position emphasizes a commitment to safety and environmental protection while utilizing advanced technology to drive improvements.

  • Review, investigate, and develop recommendations for assigned Reliability Engineering projects.
  • Utilize new technology to improve site safety, efficiencies, cost controls, quality controls, and environmental protection with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance departments to solve problems and enhance safety and efficiency.
  • Coordinate project activities to improve equipment maintenance availability and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare and review documentation for assigned projects to ensure accuracy.
  • Participate in small to medium site construction, expansion, or modification projects.
  • Administer contracts with vendors for services and equipment.
  • Develop knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations relevant to the area of assignment.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR a Master's degree in a related Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering.
  • Knowledge in probability and statistical analysis.
  • Understanding of the principles and practices of Reliability Engineering.
  • Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions.
  • Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Completion of Reliability Engineering courses.
  • SMRP or CMRP Certification.
  • Six Sigma experience or Certification.
