About The Position

The Reliability Engineer II plays a critical role in supporting the long-term performance and dependability of fixed assets across Christensen Farms' production network. Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, this role will lead and contribute to reliability initiatives by applying engineering principles to reduce downtime, increase asset longevity, and support predictive maintenance and root cause analysis. This position collaborates closely with maintenance, operations, and capital project teams to identify, prioritize, and resolve reliability challenges across pork production systems including feed mills, barns, ventilation, water, electrical systems, and supporting infrastructure. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Agricultural Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in reliability, asset management, or maintenance engineering roles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and solve complex problems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems, condition monitoring, and reliability KPIs.
  • Effective communicator with experience working across technical and operations teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of pork production systems or similar facility-based industries is a plus.
  • Preferred: CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional), Lean Six Sigma certification, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze asset performance data to identify trends, failure modes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) on critical equipment.
  • Support predictive and preventive maintenance programs by partnering with maintenance and operations teams.
  • Develop reliability standards and asset care strategies across key systems including HVAC, electrical, feed delivery, and waste management.
  • Contribute to capital planning and design reviews to ensure reliability is embedded in asset specifications.
  • Track and report reliability metrics including MTBF, MTTR, and asset availability.
  • Recommend and implement engineering solutions to reduce unplanned downtime and improve asset life cycle value.
  • Partner with OEMs, contractors, and internal SMEs to evaluate and standardize equipment and systems.

  • The targeted base pay range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000 with this range reflecting differences in candidate knowledge, skills, and experience.
