About The Position

The Reliability Lead is responsible for coaching, guiding, and assisting in troubleshooting various advanced pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, controls, and mechanical systems at the component level on all process and packaging equipment in a fast-paced, high production work environment. This role involves prioritizing multiple technical and administrative tasks during major events on the line, such as breakdowns, changeovers, and speed losses. The Reliability Lead drives a team of technicians to deliver this service across the entire plant, assigning resources to areas where they are most needed. Additionally, the Reliability Lead ensures that shift resources are utilized to execute assigned PM/planned work during times of low demand.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical degree/trade certification or 4-6 years equivalent work experience required.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to coach and guide others through troubleshooting ac/dc electrical components.
  • Ability to coach and guide others through troubleshooting basic pneumatic and mechanical drive systems.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support production needs.
  • Willingness to develop others with required technical skills in welding, basic machinist and fabrication/layout skills.
  • Possess an advanced understanding of ac/dc electrical (up to 480-volt 3 phase), hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline, preferably in Industrial Maintenance/Technology.
  • Successful completion of Mars Apprenticeship Program or Co-op.
  • Electrical school certified.
  • Technical/ Trade certification: welding, advanced machinist skills, fabrication and blueprint interpretation.
  • Possess PLC/ Instrumentation troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Reliability Technicians on shift.
  • Evaluate situations, prioritize, and assign necessary maintenance assets as necessary.
  • Assist in troubleshooting where needed and coach shift techs to close skill gaps.
  • Provide communications and escalations to Operations on shift and to Reliability Manager.
  • Prioritize activities and assure completion in a timely manner.
  • Communicate long term and short-term goals to team and motivate them to perform.
  • Ensure complete and timely closeout of unplanned work orders with a clear description of problem observed, actions taken and any follow-ups that may be required.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of all completed shift work by the team in SAP PM.
  • Communicate issues observed to Systems Technician and develop solutions for reoccurring issues.
  • Ensure that shift resources are well utilized during slow times by execution of PMs and planned work.
  • Support shift managers in decisions to minimize production down time and loss of product.
  • Work with Reliability Manager to improve performance and reliability of systems.
  • Ensure that standard metrics are in place and used to drive action on the shift.
  • Serve as coach for shift technicians providing technical and professional guidance as needed.
  • Work with Reliability Manager on performance reviews of associates and provide timely feedback.
  • Support the Mars FMOS and drive its use and improvement through the plant.
  • Participate in the Mars Supply Excellence program driving reliability improvements through breakdown elimination and support of autonomous maintenance.
  • Coach technicians through the BDA process to ensure identification of root cause.
  • Follow up with the system technician to ensure all corrective actions are being completed and the root cause is eliminated.
  • Drive the timely completion of supplementary activities including, but not limited to, 5S Audits, Cycle Counts, and Area Owned Cleanliness.
