As our company grows and scales, we’re seeking a Reliability and Test Engineer to help ensure our products meet our high standards for performance and reliability across the entire hardware product lifecycle. You’ll work closely with our Hardware Engineers and our Contract Manufacturers, assist with PCB and hardware design review, and develop strategies to diagnose, track, and address quality incidents in design, manufacturing, and deployment. Your work will directly impact hardware product design, improve overall product performance, and help achieve high customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 5+ years (mid-level) experience in hardware reliability, validation, or test engineering
  • Electronics experience: PCB SMD and THT soldering, rework, troubleshooting, oscilloscope use, digital signal analysis
  • Ability to read and debug electrical schematics
  • Skilled in formal hardware debugging, root cause analysis, and executing corrective action plans
  • Basic coding experience: Python, C, C++
  • Generalist mindset: comfortable working with all parts of electromechanical assemblies, data logging, as well as system-level topics
  • Clear, efficient, and respectful communicator, comfortable collaborating both with engineering teams and external contract manufacturers
  • Database or test logging system experience

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ (senior-level) experience in hardware reliability, validation, or test engineering
  • Experience working with PCB contract manufacturers, machine shops both domestic and international
  • Experience designing automated PCB testing fixtures
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma
  • PCB design experience with microcontrollers, industrial communications protocols
  • Previous experience navigating the balance between “move fast and break things, but not the important things”
  • Comfortable building a test logging system from scratch
  • Experience managing NPI (new product introduction) processes

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test strategies (and potentially develop test hardware) for PCBs in early-stage designs and through production, defining clear quality acceptance criteria and validation requirements
  • Review mechanical and electrical designs, identify potential functionality/reliability risks, and recommend improvements
  • Perform comprehensive root-cause analysis and recommend corrective action for downed or underperforming field devices
  • Build processes for tracking and addressing manufacturing defects and field quality incidents
  • Work closely with the Hardware, Software, and Deployments teams to coordinate device debugging
  • Travel to customer sites when required to debug devices in field if context is needed
