Overview: The Agile Release Manager oversees planning, coordination, and governance of release activities across Agile Release Trains (ARTs). This role ensures compliant, predictable, secure, and high‑quality release execution aligned with DOD modernization, DevSecOps standards, and SAFe 6.0 practices. The position requires U.S. Citizenship and an active or obtainable DOD Secret Clearance.

Requirements

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Release Management, Agile Delivery, or DevSecOps leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of SAFe 6.0, ART operations, and PI Planning.
  • Experience in coordinating enterprise‑scale releases in secure or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, secure DevOps, and change management workflows.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and risk‑management skills.
  • Ability to manage complex cross‑team dependencies and deliver predictable release outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), SAFe Release Management, or SPC certification.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, HR/pay modernization, or ERP platforms.
  • Experience in multi‑vendor, multi‑train Agile environments.
  • Understanding of DOD RMF, STIGs, and federal cybersecurity compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all release activities across ARTs, ensuring alignment with development, testing, security, and deployment teams.
  • Maintain and execute detailed Release Plans, including readiness checkpoints and approvals.
  • Partner with Release Train Engineers (RTEs) to synchronize timelines, dependencies, and release deliverables.
  • Ensure all features meet INVEST standards, acceptance criteria, and DOD compliance requirements.
  • Facilitate go/no‑go reviews, release readiness checks, and deployment retrospectives.
  • Oversee change management for release scope, risks, impacts, and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure DevSecOps alignment, including automated testing, secure pipelines, and shift‑left quality.
  • Maintain compliance with RMF controls, cybersecurity standards, and federal auditability requirements.
  • Track release metrics, including cycle time, deployment frequency, defect leakage, and compliance indicators.
  • Communicate release status, risks, and outcomes to leadership and cross‑functional teams.
