About The Position

The Relationship Manager at John Hancock is a pivotal role that serves as an advocate for customers while contributing to the broader Strategic Relationship Management & Consulting team. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about building strategic relationships with advisors, third-party administrators (TPAs), plan sponsors, and the John Hancock team. The Relationship Manager is expected to maintain the highest standards of excellence in advisor service, ensuring that inquiries and requests are handled promptly and effectively. This role also involves training advisors and their support staff in utilizing John Hancock's tools and resources, establishing oneself as a leader in retirement planning within the region, and providing creative solutions to advisors. In addition to relationship building, the Relationship Manager is responsible for maintaining plan retention and contributing to profitable growth. This includes identifying and positioning the best John Hancock tools and resources to support key intermediaries in their ongoing service commitments to plan sponsors and eligible employees. The role requires working closely with intermediaries to ensure quality ongoing service related to plan design, investment selection, and ERISA compliance. The Relationship Manager will also identify plans that are up for RFP, facing competitive threats, or experiencing service quality issues, and implement retention strategies accordingly. The position is focused on asset maximization and retention strategies that influence greater participation, increased deferral rates, and account consolidation. The Relationship Manager will solicit opportunities during interactions with advisors, set expectations for ongoing service, and serve as a primary point of contact. Conducting plan reviews and business planning meetings, addressing advisor or sponsor concerns, and taking corrective actions are also key responsibilities. Furthermore, the Relationship Manager will create, maintain, and implement a territory business plan that optimizes retention and revenue growth, helping advisors grow their book of business. This role is remote but covers the Northern California, San Francisco, or Sacramento metro areas, and is integral to achieving retirement plan retention and growth in revenue and assets through informed and loyal advisors, sponsors, and participants.
