About The Position

The role of Institutional Salesperson at MFS involves developing and executing sales strategies to enhance brand awareness and drive sales within a defined territory, preferably in the Western US. This position requires building relationships with various client segments and leveraging market intelligence to identify opportunities and improve outreach. The salesperson will manage the sales cycle from initial engagement to client onboarding, ensuring collaboration with internal teams and promoting MFS at industry events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; post-graduate education in a related area and/or CFA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' investment-related experience in a direct client-oriented capacity.
  • Prior sales experience and demonstrated understanding of the institutional landscape required.
  • Strong knowledge of global equity and fixed income markets is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.
  • Self-starter with a high level of initiative.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • FINRA registrations in accordance with MFS' licensing policy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy to raise brand awareness and drive sales within an assigned territory.
  • Establish relationships across client segments, including publics, corporates, unions, endowments and foundations, healthcare, and insurance.
  • Pursue and establish relationships with relevant field & research consultants at key global and regional consulting firms.
  • Leverage market intelligence tools and data to identify opportunities and improve outreach.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and competitive landscape.
  • Uphold a well-diversified pipeline of opportunities supported by regular, quality in-person and virtual engagements.
  • Support and execute on the firm's strategic initiatives to emphasize growth and diversification of business through fixed income and defined contribution.
  • Manage the sales cycle from early engagement through final presentations and client onboarding.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and participate in meetings with MFS investment personnel.
  • Ensure collaborative working relationships with relationship management and consultant relations counterparts.
  • Identify industry events and branding opportunities to strengthen and promote MFS.
