About The Position

The Relationship Banker at M&T Bank's Chevy Chase Circle Branch is responsible for identifying customer needs and providing proactive sales solutions through outreach and relationship management. This role focuses on enhancing the customer experience in the branch by managing lobby interactions, servicing customers, and facilitating sales for both retail and business clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of 2 years proven retail sales, call center, customer service and/or telesales experience, or 1 year of proactive sales experience.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service.
  • Well-organized individual with time management and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated financial services product knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy with internal and external customers.
  • Proficient with internet user-level technology.

Responsibilities

  • Identify customers' needs through the bank's retail sales process and provide proactive sales solutions.
  • Conduct customer assessments and profiling for sales opportunities, including account opening and outbound calling.
  • Complete basic research on customer profiles to assess potential value additions to their banking relationship.
  • Identify financial needs of customers and present appropriate product and service options in collaboration with internal partners.
  • Proactively reach out to clients via email or phone to follow up and educate them on value-added products/services.
  • Onboard new customers through outreach, regardless of the channel used to open the account.
  • Establish trust with existing clients through regular proactive outreach.
  • Schedule and hold preset appointments with clients each week.
  • Prepare adequately for scheduled appointments with a pre-call plan.
  • Perform customer servicing interactions and adhere to compliance/operational risk controls.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain internal control standards and implement audit points as required.
