This role centers on gaining a deep understanding of each Member’s financial needs and providing personalized guidance and solutions tailored to those needs. The Relationship Advisor will recommend appropriate credit union products and services, ensuring that all offerings align with the individual financial goals of each Member. In addition to providing financial guidance, the Relationship Advisor processes a variety of financial transactions with accuracy and efficiency. The position plays a key part in supporting the success of the branch by working to achieve both individual and team sales and production goals, while ensuring strict adherence to all established credit union policies and procedures. The Relationship Advisor may also perform the essential functions of a Relationship Builder within the branch, such as teller transaction processing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service, preferably in a financial institution.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales goals and building strong customer relationships.
  • Experience with handling cash and balancing transactions accurately.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both written and verbal forms.
  • Demonstrates basic sales techniques and works to understand Member needs.
  • Shows a developing knowledge of financial products and services.
  • Able to work effectively with supervision and contribute to a team setting.
  • Organized and learning effective time management strategies.
  • Maintains confidentiality and follows established ethical guidelines.
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods as needed (up to eight hours).
  • Willing to take on multiple tasks and develop prioritization skills.
  • Attentive to detail and working toward accuracy in processing financial transactions.
  • Open to ongoing training and committed to professional growth.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in using financial software and systems.
  • Experience with opening and closing accounts, processing loan applications, and providing financial advice to customers.
  • 1 year of financial institution experience/retail banking strongly preferred.
  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Member Service and Engagement: As a Relationship Advisor, it is essential to provide outstanding service to all Members. This begins with greeting Members warmly upon arrival, actively listening in order to understand their individual needs, and offering personalized product recommendations and solutions tailored to each Member’s unique circumstances.
  • Transaction Processing and Account Maintenance: The role involves accurately and efficiently processing a variety of financial transactions. These include, but are not limited to deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, account transfers, and will assist Members with ongoing account maintenance. Maintaining accuracy and efficiency in these tasks ensures a positive Member experience and upholds the Credit Union’s standards.
  • Account Opening: Opening new accounts is a key responsibility in this role. This includes consumer, fiduciary, and business accounts. Relationship Advisors will also assist in opening shares such as savings checking, money market, certificates of deposit, individual retirement accounts (IRA). Relationship Advisor must ensure all accounts and shares are opened with the proper documentation and in compliance with regulatory and credit union requirements.
  • Product and Service Recommendations: Proactively identifies and recommends suitable Credit Union products and services to our Members. By understanding each Member’s financial needs and goals, representatives can suggest options such as loans, credit cards, and online banking services that best fit their situation.
  • Will also refer Members to business, mortgage, and wealth management when appropriate.
  • Sales Goals and Campaign Participation: Achieving both individual and team sales and production goals is expected. This involves actively promoting Credit Union products and services and participating in marketing sales campaigns to drive engagement and growth.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation of all transactions and Member interactions. Proper record-keeping supports organizational accountability and compliance.
  • Member Resolution: Promptly resolving Member concerns in a professional manner is a key aspect of the role. Complex issues should be escalated to leadership as needed to ensure timely and effective solutions.
  • Product Knowledge and Professional Development: Stays current with Mazuma's products, services, and promotions. Participates actively in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance job skills and expand knowledge relevant to the position.
  • Compliance and Security: Adheres to all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as well as comply with all Credit Union policies, procedures, and security protocols.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding all Member information in accordance with Credit Union standards and regulatory requirements. This commitment ensures that all legal and organizational standards are consistently met.
  • Professionalism and Teamwork: Maintaining a professional and organized work environment is expected at all times, including upholding a professional appearance that reflects Credit Union standards. Contributes to a positive team atmosphere and supports overall branch performance and Member satisfaction.
  • Branch Operations Support: Assist with other branch teams and operational tasks as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Team Support and Relationship Building: Build and sustain positive relationships with Members and Team Members to foster a welcoming and supportive environment.
