Come make a difference at MGIC. About the role We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support our Reinsurance team for the summer. This internship provides hands-on exposure to reinsurance accounting processes, financial analysis, and internal controls, while working closely with experienced professionals.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, or a related field
• Basic knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, and SOX requirements
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Analytical mindset with the ability to communicate findings

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries within Workday and ReLogic
• Perform monthly analysis and reconciliation of designated general ledger accounts.
• Assist with analyzing and researching variances as well as providing logical/concise explanations for variances and/or fluctuations in a timely manner
• Assist with gathering data and preparing schedules for disclosures and related technical memos
• Assist with ReLogic testing for enhancements, upgrade, and implementation and/or termination of reinsurance contracts
• Ensure accurate reinsurance and accounting control procedures are maintained
• Generate monthly and quarterly reports for analysis of reinsurance premiums, losses, and exposure, etc. for use by management and reinsurers
• Obtain an understanding of MGIC’s reinsurance function and its relation to other departments as well as understanding our reinsurance programs
