About The Position

The Reimbursement Manager at Washington Hospital Health System is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timely filing of cost reports and other reimbursement-related reports for government payors. This role involves calculating monthly contractual reserves and bad debt allowances, assisting in forecasting for the annual budget, and providing insights on contracts to senior management to enhance reimbursement potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Finance required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5 years of hospital or healthcare financial experience required.
  • 2 years audit experience with Federal (Medicare) or state (Medi-Cal) fiscal intermediary.
  • Strong Excel spreadsheet knowledge, including ability to work with large data files required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel for 2 years (Preferred)
  • Healthcare financial or hospital experience for 5 years (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly calculation of contractual reserve and bad debt allowances for financial statements according to GASB and FASB guidance.
  • Maintains supporting documentation and provides related reports or analyses as requested.
  • Responds to reimbursement-related requests during the annual hospital financial audit, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Ensures external auditors propose no changes to recorded reserves.
  • Assists with the calculation of contractual and bad debt rates for the annual hospital budget.
  • Responsible for annual cost report preparation and collaborates with outside consultants to resolve or appeal cost report findings.
  • Assists with periodic reconciliation of Net Revenue and the general ledger.
  • Prepares all other reports as requested by Finance management and/or other internal and external parties.
