About The Position

The Rehabilitation Technician at the VA North Texas Healthcare System in Bonham, TX, plays a crucial role in providing direct care to veterans. Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
• Must be able to serve a probationary period
• Subject to background/security investigation
• Completion of online onboarding process is required
• Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is mandatory
• Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is mandatory
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in Federal service
• Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance abuse

Responsibilities

• Perform admit/intake/orientation functions for newly arrived veterans to the Domiciliary
• Respond to emergency contingencies in a first responder role throughout the Domiciliary
• Conduct continual and routine safety/security/cleanliness inspections of individual veteran rooms
• Gather and provide information to the interdisciplinary team pertinent to assessment and treatment planning
• Direct and support the veteran in an effort to achieve developed and stated treatment goals
• Facilitate daily/weekly individual and/or group sessions
• Use guided rehabilitation strategies
• Perform other duties as assigned
