About The Position

The Rehabilitation Technician assists licensed staff with patient treatments, ensuring the department is clean and organized, and assisting with equipment maintenance and cleaning of supplies. This role acts as a team member to help patients, staff, and the hospital achieve their goals. The Rehabilitation Technician is actively involved in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and LifeCare activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all adult (18-65 years of age) and geriatric (65 and older) patient populations admitted to LifeCare Hospital.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current CNA certification in the state where practicing if required.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • Maintain current certification, if required by State, and BLS certification while employed with LifeCare Hospitals.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in an acute care or LTACH setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position requirements through the successful completion of competencies established for the position, to include population served and other special needs of patients or customers, served by the department.
  • Adhere to LifeCare policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations.
  • Maintain regular attendance and timeliness.
  • Implement treatment plans in a cost-effective manner, designed to help patients function independently under the supervision of the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist.
  • Communicate patient progress to the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Maintain and promote positive attitude toward patients and their treatment programs.
  • Ensure patient safety at all times by notifying the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist, assigned nurse, or nursing supervisor, of any risk factors seen, initiating, and maintaining appropriate safety measures.
  • Accurately complete all appropriate documentation and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Communicate changing patient needs to the Physical Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist, physician, and nursing supervisor as appropriate.
  • Provide education pertaining to physical therapy or occupational therapy techniques to patients and families.
  • Plan/organize work to maintain caseload, effectively schedule patient treatment sessions, maintains patient records.
  • Assure that equipment is maintained and is in clean and working order.
  • Report equipment maintenance and/or repair timely.
  • Maintain open communication with the therapy team on patients’ performance and progress.
