This position is responsible for coordinating and monitoring rehabilitation and employment-related services. The Rehabilitation Specialist works in partnership with assigned Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, community rehabilitation program providers and others involved in assisting the individual to become involved in or maintain involvement in employment or meaningful community activities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED with 2 years experience in rehabilitation services for people with disabilities.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Possess valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Prior experience in the behavioral health setting.
  • Must obtain Fingerprint clearance card and pass a background check.
  • Participate as a member of team and work in a cooperative manner with participants and other staff.
  • Experience working in a community based supportive employment program with duties that have exposed the person to person-centered philosophies of service, program documentation and assisting persons with disabilities in vocational planning.
  • Demonstrable theoretical knowledge in the field.
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR and CPI (or equivalent) if candidate does not have active certification agency will provide training.
  • Proven ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner that respects the rights, dignity and privacy of persons assisted.
  • Knowledgeable of benefit and entitlements process and community resources available.
  • Ability to operate independently, respectful of participants and staff, maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of special needs population.
  • Knowledge of referral resources available to participants.
  • Ability to type and working knowledge/familiarity with computers and electronic clinical record keeping.
