About The Position

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Disability Employment and Transitions Division. Montana Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind Services promotes opportunities for Montanans with disabilities to have rewarding careers and achieve maximum personal potential. This position provides guidance and counseling to individuals with disabilities in achieving employment outcomes. Responsibilities include developing individual rehabilitation plans, counseling consumers on job and career development goals, providing on-site job coaching or assistive devices, approving, purchasing, and monitoring the quality of goods and services, and consulting and coaching Workforce partners, community rehabilitation providers, businesses, and other stakeholders on serving individuals with disabilities. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field with coursework eligible to sit for certification.
  • Two years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, career counseling, human services, or human resources.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial assessment and vocational rehabilitation counseling.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and disability rights, culture, and history.
  • Ability to be flexible and balance between literal adherence to rules and the use of policies as a guide.
  • Skill in working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to interpret and use medical and psychological information to make sound decisions.
  • Ability to be proactive, organized, and manage caseloads.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) is highly preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
