Key Position Details: This rehab aide position will provide support for Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute (CKRI) Outpatient department and CKRI’s Transitional Rehabilitation Program on the Golden Valley campus. It will support departmental functions including assisting with physical support in therapy sessions, administrative projects for therapeutic interventions developed by therapists, assisting with wheelchair management (cleaning equipment, safety fixes, technical adjustments), Lokomat setup/takedown, and FES bike assistance. 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period) 8-hour day shifts Every 4th weekend rotation

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below: ◦ Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association ◦ Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross ◦ Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0 to 2 years in a health care setting

Responsibilities

  • Assists therapists.
  • Provides hands on assistance as directed by therapy provider in therapy sessions.
  • Provides safe patient equipment, ensures personal safety, and safe work environment.
  • Recognizes emergency medical situations, symptoms, and take appropriate actions.
  • Uses equipment and proper body mechanics to reduce injury to self and patients.
  • Uses communication techniques that reflect attention to age, cultural and population specific needs of the patient and family.
  • Supports department functions.
  • Thoroughly documents relevant cleaning, maintenance, O2 tank status, and crash cart checks.
  • Activities may include patient transport to and from department, transfers, escorting patient to treatment room or gym when appropriate, supervise patients on equipment, and perform modality set-up based on training.
  • Completes equipment cleaning, stocking, and ordering as appropriate.
  • Participates in program development, professional practice, and quality teams as requested.
  • Promotes rehabilitation services.
  • Assists front desk.
  • May include answering phones, scheduling, copying, filing, calling patients, outcomes management, and medical records functions as training security allows.
  • May assists with the orientation of new staff, students, and volunteers.
  • May ensures appropriate patient education information is supplied and orders as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
