About The Position

Join Our Team as a Casual Rehabilitation Aide at UPMC Muncy! Are you looking for a flexible opportunity to make a meaningful impact in patient care? UPMC Muncy is seeking a Casual Rehabilitation Aide to support our therapy team on an as-needed basis, typically weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. In this role, you’ll work closely with licensed clinical staff—including Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapists—to assist with patient care and provide essential clinical and clerical support. Requirements

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and follow safety protocols.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills; adaptable to changing needs.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of age-related patient differences and ability to provide quality customer service.
  • Competent in reading and understanding medical record documents.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to clinical situations, such as recognizing vital signs or symptoms that need to be communicated to the therapist.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with a diverse population, including patients, healthcare team members, and leadership, in alignment with UPMC’s core values: Caring & Listening, Dignity & Respect, Excellence & Innovation, Quality & Safety, and Responsibility & Integrity.
  • Must adhere to all UPMC and CRS policies and complete mandatory competencies, including system, business unit, and facility-specific orientations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification (AHA standards) within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting (with renewal).
  • Act 33 and Act 34 Clearances (with renewal).
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting is a plus, but not required.
  • Previous experience as a therapy technician or nursing assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist therapists with patient care activities in accordance with state practice acts.
  • Provide clerical support, including scheduling, filing charges, and maintaining daily logs.
  • Transport patients safely and courteously between units and treatment areas.
  • Maintain and organize medical supplies and therapy equipment.
  • Help orient new aides and therapy volunteers.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort at all times.
  • Keep treatment areas clean and ready for use.
