About The Position

Parkview Therapy Services offers clinical internship experiences in a variety of settings, including exposure to outpatient and inpatient care, services for adults and pediatric patients, and specialty areas across physical, occupational, and speech therapy. There may be additional opportunities to observe and engage with hospital and rehabilitation leadership. The primary function of this internship is to perform designated tasks that support the daily operations of Parkview Therapy Services. The intern will work under the supervision of clinical staff and department leaders.

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following requirements:
  • Currently accepted or enrolled in a college or university, healthcare career path preferred.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above and in good standing.
  • Must complete within 60 days of hire:
  • Parkview#s Patient Care Foundations course.
  • CPR certification at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association.
  • Strong computer skills and applications.
  • Active engagement in a continuous learning environment.
  • Reliable and trustworthy team member.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds independently and assist with 100 pounds.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED or be a high school student enrolled in a work development class (ICE program or equivalent).
  • If a nursing student must be currently enrolled in an accredited ASN or BSN program. Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).
  • Must be in pursuit of an ASN or BSN degree in nursing.
  • Current CPR BLS certification required.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications.
  • Demonstrates ability to critically think.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with various indirect patient-related activities.
  • Supporting process improvement projects to comply with Joint Commission requirements.
  • Placing department supply orders.
  • Routing medical documents as needed.
  • Cleaning, sterilization, and general housekeeping.
  • Transporting materials.
  • Creating patient education materials.
  • Performing other miscellaneous administrative tasks.
