Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent required.
Must have basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of hospital experience as rehab aide preferred.
Six months of general maintenance experience and use of hand/power tools preferred.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of a therapist, assists patients in the rehabilitation process through provision of requested activities.
Prepares and maintains equipment and physical plant for daily activities.
Assist therapist with transferring patients to/from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs and other equipment appropriate to the facility/department.
Transports patients to/from therapy as needed.
Assists with patient related activities including equipment set-up and patient positioning in preparation for therapy session as outlined in the Physical Therapy Practice Act.
Participates in therapeutic dysphagia and feeding program as requested and supervised by the therapists.
Prepares and maintains the department and department equipment in a clean and orderly condition, including disinfecting all equipment and surfaces according to infection control policies and procedures.
Ensures maintenance of cleaning logs and refrigerator temperature logs.
Provides coverage for Wheelchair Technicians including: Assists with cleaning/disinfecting of wheelchairs and cushions after each patient use.
Issues wheelchair to new admissions.
Assists with preventative maintenance and repairs on wheelchair fleet to extend life of equipment and ensure patient safety.
Distributes wheelchairs to new admissions, as requested by therapy department.
Communicates with Clinical Manager and/or Director of Rehab on a timely basis regarding departmental needs, informs department manager of needed supplies, and assists with inventory control and ordering.
Establishes and maintains current knowledge of all performance improvement and patient care improvement issues and maintains an active role in monitoring these issues.
Participates in departmental meetings and demonstrates understanding of patient satisfaction and safety outcome data.
Arranges for responsibilities to be covered in planned absences.
Assists the DOR with identification of support staff needs for patient care in the rehab treatment areas and coordination of such between rehab and nursing floors.
Participates in therapeutic dysphagia and feeding program as requested and supervised by the therapists.
Participates in facility specific Core Program meetings and demonstrates understanding of patient satisfaction outcome data.
Assists with basic clerical duties as requested.
Performs other duties as requested.
