Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school with a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • License as required by the State of Wisconsin to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • 1 years plus clinical experience.
  • A passion for helping residents achieve their highest level of independence and quality of life.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a team of speech and language pathologists.
  • In-depth knowledge of speech therapy practices, treatment techniques, and the therapeutic process.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage departmental operations and meet goals.
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth in the field of speech therapy.
  • Compassion, integrity, and a dedication to providing exceptional care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Speech Therapy department, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery for all residents.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of speech and language pathologists and assistants, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create comprehensive, individualized treatment plans for residents, ensuring optimal outcomes.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of residents’ speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive-communication needs.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans aimed at improving residents' communication skills, swallowing abilities, and cognitive functions.
  • Monitor and evaluate therapy progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans to ensure residents' needs are met.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work culture, encouraging collaboration and professional development within the therapy team.
  • Manage departmental operations, including scheduling, staffing, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide education and training to staff on the latest speech therapy techniques and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of residents' progress and therapy outcomes, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Advocate for residents' needs, ensuring the availability of necessary resources, therapies, and support to enhance their communication, swallowing, and overall well-being.
