About The Position

This rehab aide position is a great opportunity to learn more about rehabiliation services and support acute care patient needs at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina! The rehab aide assists all disciplines within rehabilitation services. This may include setting up and assisting with direct patient care, patient transport (and monitoring patients during these activities). The rehab aide is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and inventorying of equipment and durable medical equipment for patient use and communicating with vendors regarding equipment inventories. The aide will maintain and clean all department treatment areas. In addition, the rehab aide will assist with orientation of new staff, and orientation and training of volunteers.The role assists with patient care under the direction of a therapist, transporting patients to/from Rehab gym, managing equipment, cleaning Rehab spaces and equipment, scheduling therapy appointments, light clerical tasks and other tasks as needed. FTE 1.0, (authorized for 80 hours per pay period). Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 5:00pm (8-hour) shifts and one holiday per year. Local SEIU contract position and benefit plan. M Health Fairview Rehabilitation offers a broad range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs.

Requirements

Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross)

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or equivalent
Interest in Rehab Services or Healthcare fields

Responsibilities

Provides patient transfers and transport
Follows proper procedure when completing/assisting with patient transfers to ensure safety of patient and self
Transports assigned patients in a safe and timely manner
Observes patient condition during transport and reports adverse symptoms to therapy or nursing staff.
Prints up schedule of transports from Epic.
With appropriate training may assist with patient care as delegated and under the supervision of a Certified/Licensed Rehab Professional
Including set-up of treatment equipment, monitoring patient activities, scoring of tests.
Immediately reports any observed change in patient status to supervising Certified/Licensed Rehab Professional.
May need to utilize Epic to check for patient weight/height and weight-bearing status.
Prepares, maintains, and cleans department/treatment areas in compliance with safely and infection control standards
Completes cleaning per schedule
Completes maintenance, temperature, and safety checklist
Completes required checklists
Assists with ordering, inventorying, issuing and verification of billing of supplies and/or patient treatment equipment, including rental equipment.
Knowledge of varying requirements for payor reimbursement of issued medical equipment, including waivers for non-covered equipment and Medicare primary walker issuance.
Ability to navigate in Epic to print up face sheet
