About The Position

The incumbent will perform varied and complex professional and regulatory activities related to the Boards of Osteopathic Medicine, Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture and the Council of Licensed Midwifery. The incumbent will be required to exercise independent judgment and initiative in carrying out assignments to completion. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of Florida Statutes and Rules governing licensing and regulation. Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Operations Administrator and is reviewed for accuracy and completion by periodic review of work product and day-to-day observation of work habits.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Florida Statutes and Rules governing licensing and regulation.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluates applicant qualifications for licensure in accordance with statutory and rule requirements.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for massage therapist applications and as a primary processor for massage therapist by examination, endorsement, military and reactivation applications.
  • Processes applications in the licensing database (LEIDS) or continuing education database (CEBroker) as appropriate.
  • Issues correspondence concerning application deficiencies to applicants in process or licensure to approved applicants.
  • Assists with administrative duties related to the processing of applications including processing supplemental documentation and preparing refund forms.
  • Processes graduate lists received from Florida Board approved massage schools and updates application files as appropriate.
  • Analyzes and recommends solutions to administrative problems relating to application deficiencies and required qualifications.
  • Responds to general inquiries from the public by telephone, email, and in writing.
  • Updates applications in the licensing database (LEIDS) following additional review completed by other sections or units.
  • Summarizes and prepares application files and supporting documentation for review by Board chairs, committees, Boards, or Councils.
  • Independently reviews reports related to application processing and audits applications.
  • Creates and maintains training materials for the support section and massage licensing section.
  • Assists with training new and incumbent employees on standard procedure and day-to-day tasks.
  • Observes processes and workload using existing reports and suggests process improvements.
