About The Position

The Regulatory Specialist position involves the coordination, preparation, and submission of oil and gas regulatory applications and notices of work. This role requires the ability to permit special projects with minimal direction and supervision, and to initiate and coordinate project development requirements with EOG personnel, outside contractors, and agency stakeholders. The specialist will also assist with the training of less experienced regulatory staff. A key responsibility is interpreting regulatory rules and rule changes, ensuring they are communicated to and implemented by operational groups, and recommending procedural changes in response to new regulations. The role includes advising operational teams on compliance issues and communicating with regulatory agencies on pre-submission strategies, compliance requirements, clarification, and follow-up of submissions. The specialist will work with local, state (New Mexico and Texas), and federal regulatory agencies to obtain approvals and provide necessary information to comply with project regulatory requirements. This position also entails presenting and negotiating project-specific requirements at the individual permit level and promoting EOG's standing as an industry leader in the regulatory process. Regular travel to regulatory agency offices in New Mexico and Texas is required.
