RES is seeking a Regulatory Specialist II with at least 2 years of experience to support our Sacramento, CA office. The mission: RES is operating in a unique and inspiring industry. You will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape RES' West Region with your work! How? Armed with the knowledge of existing local, State, and federal regulatory processes, you will support efforts relevant to required regulatory authorizations for ecological restoration projects, including preparing permit applications and supporting documentation, and coordinating regulatory analyses and graphics with our GIS specialists.

  • Work on permitting applications and participate in project coordination.
  • Draft and compile technical documents and reports in support of permitting applications for submittal to the relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Interpret and apply data and concepts including ecological data, cultural resource information, construction methods and protocols, compliance measures and ecosystem restoration design plans.
  • Ensure applications include project-specific details and analysis to support a complete application submittal in support of obtaining regulatory authorizations coinciding with Project milestones.
  • Participate in internal team meetings discussing project progress, timelines, critical path tasks, and other topics relevant to entitling and permitting restoration and/or mitigation projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Ecology or Biology, Environmental Policy, Planning, or a closely related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental permitting, jurisdictional determinations, and technical report writing.
  • Knowledge of environmental policy and regulations including those under the Federal Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404/401, California Fish and Game Code and California State water Resource Control Board Policies and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of endangered species regulations in California.
  • Ability to interpret restoration design plans and other engineering design and details.
  • GIS Experience.
  • Experience conducting ecological assessments.
  • Experience conducting aquatic resource delineations, vegetation surveys and/or hydrological monitoring.
  • Existing positive professional resource agency relationships.
  • Master's Degree in a Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or similar discipline.
