About The Position

This position is for a Regulatory Specialist II within the Division of Medical Quality Assurance, Bureau of Health Care Practitioner Regulation. Incumbents will play a crucial role in ensuring qualified health care professionals can work in Florida, thereby increasing access to health care for Floridians and supporting existing health care professionals, especially during public health emergencies. The role is a full-time, career service position in a professional, administrative setting. Duties are similar to those of customer service representatives, medical records, billing, or coding specialists, or data entry clerks, focusing on compliance with regulations and providing professional assistance to the public. While knowledge or experience in a health-related field or relevant Florida statutes is helpful, it is not required. This requisition may be used to fill multiple vacancies.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and ability to interpret Florida Statutes and administrative codes in regards to licensing and regulation of professionals and facilities, and consumer protection.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in using Windows-based computers.
  • Ability to learn and utilize job-specific software such as LEIDS and AxiomPro and office equipment such as phones, fax machines, scanners, and copiers.
  • Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data.
  • Ability to provide consultative assistance to others.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities on a pre-approved work schedule.
  • Ability to communicate and deal with people effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Must be physically present in the office to effectively perform job duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process confidential information, including exam and endorsement applications.
  • Provide general licensing status information and requirements, as well as relevant continuing education requirements and fees, to customers via written and verbal communication.
  • Review information in the Division’s Licensing and Enforcement Database (LEIDS) and associated software/online systems and websites, as well as statutory laws and rules, to provide a response to customer inquiries.
  • Maintain current information on licensees by independently reviewing documentation submitted by licensees, then accurately making the required changes in LEIDS and any other related systems to maintain proper records.
  • Respond to licensees with written verification when a change has been completed as authorized and appropriate, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Recommend changes in policies and procedures for effective operations in the board office, assist in developing and implementing such policies and procedures, and perform other administrative tasks as needed.
