About The Position

The Regulatory Compliance Manager at UChicago Medicine plays a crucial role in ensuring that the healthcare system meets and exceeds regulatory standards related to patient care. This hybrid position involves collaboration with various departments to maintain compliance with agencies such as the Joint Commission and CMS, while also leading compliance activities and facilitating regulatory agency interactions.

Requirements

  • Masters or B.S in a health-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of hospital experience in a clinical or administrative role with a focus on patient safety, risk management, compliance, or quality.
  • Experience with EMR systems, particularly in building reports for quality and compliance.
  • Health Informatics experience, preferably with Epic.
  • Working knowledge of Joint Commission, DNV, HFAP, and CMS standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in teaching and consulting.
  • Strong organizational and data management skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Smartsheet.
  • Advanced experience with Epic and ability to build and run reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing oversight, support, instruction, and facilitation to ensure compliance with patient care regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and disseminate relevant standards and regulations to appropriate departments.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and promotion of compliance activities for safe patient care delivery.
  • Maintain a program philosophy of 'Constant State of Readiness' for compliance with standards.
  • Serve as a liaison to regulatory agencies and facilitate on-site surveys and inspections.
  • Organize documentation for agency visits and manage follow-up reports and activities.
  • Recommend potential appeals or follow-up actions for plans of correction.
  • Participate in Emergency Management planning and responses.
  • Support the development and review of UChicago Medicine Policies and Procedures.
  • Collaborate in Root Cause Analysis Committees across the enterprise.
