Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage and execute Digi cellular routers certifications with regulatory, industry and mobile network operators with a focus on FCC, PTCRB, AT&T, Verizon, and T-mobile.
  • Prepare documentation and test units for certifications testing.
  • Interface with test labs and mobile network operators (MNOs) to drive cellular certifications to completion.
  • Travel to test labs and MNOs as needed to ensure completion of certifications on time.
  • Become subject matter expert (SME) with MNO requirements and certifications process.
  • Manage certification samples, control inventory, setup proper device configurations, and document units for traceability to ensure success.
  • Work directly with testing labs, certifications agencies, and mobile network operators.
  • Lead the debug and troubleshooting of any issues that arise.
  • Plans, controls, supports and monitors all type approval tests and certifications.
  • Analyzes product descriptions/features and detailed country list to specify regulatory requirements.
  • Develops compliance test plans for products.
  • Conducts sample preparation for hardware modification, software controls and components and shipment communication for domestic and international testing.
  • Provides test preparation, procures equipment and setup type approval tests.
  • Documents preparation, declarations, technical descriptions and PoA.
  • Manages local reps, including travel to testing facilities when needed and/or feasible.
  • Responsible for communication and process support with service house.
  • Checks on certifications and release process for checked invoices.
  • Completes certification in target market and technical construction file.
  • Evaluates, researches and reports on new country regulations.
  • Checks validity of relevant regulations, norms and standards.
  • Provides resources and cost estimation.
  • Supports internal conformity audits for manufacturing.
  • Trains technicians on test support equipment and works with 3rd party laboratories.
  • Maintains records of all compliance testing and global compliance requirements.
  • Designated as the point of contact for compliance determination.
  • Actively pursues appropriate continuing education and development programs to maintain and enhance job related technical and functional skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Familiarity with the cellular phone or cellular IoT industry.
  • Basic understanding of wireless technologies (3GPP, 3G, 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS).
  • Exposure to cellular certification processes (FCC, PTCRB, AT&T, FirstNet, Verizon, T-Mobile, Rogers, Bell, Telus).
  • Some experience with debugging and scripting tools (QXDM, Python, TeraTerm).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to lead activities and drive results / completion of tasks.
  • Identify, analyze, manage and resolve technical issues.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional listening, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Coordinate internal, external and regulatory stakeholders to keep things moving.
  • Develop test plans and execute internal testing.
  • Documentation using MS Office tools, Confluence and JIRA.
  • Ability to prioritize according to business objectives.
